Speech-language pathologists (SLPs), often called speech therapists, are highly educated in the study of human communication, its development, and its disorders. SLPs assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, social communication, and oral/feeding/swallowing skills. S-LPs in Ontario have a master's degree (at least), and are regulated by the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario (CASLPO). At PipSpeak, we have additional experience and training in the areas of pediatric speech production difficulties, early language, fluency, and social communication difficulties.


Speech and Language Therapy Support

Speech-language therapy assistants support clinical services provided by Speech-Language Pathologists in a variety of clinical and administrative roles. At PipSpeak, our SLTA, Joyce, provides fun and creative treatment sessions addressing treatment goals developed by the supervising SLP, and is instrumental in assisting S-LPs in preparing for sessions and workshops. Speech and Language Adventure Groups

These small group Speech Language Therapy sessions are for kids (aged 6-12) who are ready to practice their newly acquired communication skills with peers in a friendly and speech-inclusive environment. Participants are screened for appropriateness in each group before registration can be confirmed.

1.5 hour session supervised by a registered S-LP. Max 5 members per session.

Joyce graduated with a B.Sc. in Speech Pathology from the University of the Philippines and has over 20 years of experience working with children and adults in the hospital, school, in-home, and private clinic settings. Her experience working with clients in a variety of needs, along with her volunteer and research experience at Operation Smile, the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, the Autism Society of the Philippines, and as a Mom to two young daughters makes her a tremendous support for clients.

Rachelle founded PipSpeak in 2018 after having worked for over 15 years in paediatric therapy at various organizations. She works primarily in the areas of stuttering, motor speech, and early language difficulties. In addition to being a registered S-LP, she offers parent coaching and is passionate about advocacy for neurodivergent learners, overcoming barriers to and supporting parents in positive parenting.

Mariana graduated from UofT in 2004 with an M.H.Sc. from the department of Speech Language Pathology. After working for almost 15 years in various preschool program and hospital settings, Mariana took time off to raise her 2 children. She is excited to be returning to speech-language pathology, bringing her natural curiosity, fresh perspective, and her open, positive spirit.
